## Abstract Photooxygenation of methyl (__E__)‐ and (__Z__)‐2‐methyl‐4‐phenyl‐2‐pentenecarboxylates (__E__‐1, __Z__‐1) afforded the hydroperoxy esters (__R__\*,__S__\*)‐2a and (__S__\*,__S__\*)‐2b through regiospecific and diastereo‐selective ene reaction of singlet oxygen at the α‐methyl group wit
