In the title molecule, C 16 H 17 NO, the dihedral angle between the phenyl and benzene rings is 28.4 (1) . The six-membered 3,4-dihydro-2H-1,3-oxazine ring adopts a screw boat conformation. In the crystal structure, weak C-HÁ Á Á(arene) interactions are present.
O-Acetates of 4-hydroxy and 4-hydroxy-7-methoxy-2H-1,4-benzoxazln-3-ones reacted with nucleophlles such as phenols, lndoles and ethanethlol The maJor reaction center IS the positively-charged nitrogen atom
