Y,y-Diaikoxyally lie zirconium species can be easily prepared from the reaction of tfiethyl orthoaQrylate with zirconcoene equivalent (zirconocene~butene complex). This species reacts with aldehydes as an ct,~unsaturated acyl anion equivalent to give the l-substituted-2,2-dlethoxy-3-buten-1ol deriva
