## Abstract The (trimethylsiloxy)benzoyl chlorides **1โ7** are easily to obtain under mild conditions from silylated hydroxybenzoic acids by means of thionyl chloride. Whereas these acid chlorides are stable at room temperature, they undergo condensation polymerization at temperatures above 100ยฐC.
The liquid phase benzoylation of toluene with benzoyl chloride (BOC) has been studied over ZSM-12, beta, mordenite, Y and REY zeolites and \(\mathrm{AlCl}_{3}\) at \(383 \mathrm{~K}\). Zeolite \(\mathrm{H}\)-beta is more active and selective than the other zeolites. \(\mathrm{H}-\mathrm{ZSM}-5, \mat
