✦ Synopsis
age molecular weight of 3 was determined to be 1850 by vapor pressure osmometry (in benzene), which corresponds to the product derived from one molecule of l a and ten molecules of phenyl isocyanide. In the 'H NMR spectrum the ratio of aromatic protons on PhNC to aliphatic protons on triethylphosphine indicated the same composition for 3. The IR spectrum of 3 showed absorptions at 2085cm-' (vCaC) and at 1640 cm-' (v,=,); the latter absorption is characteristic of isocyanide polymers.[*. *] In the 31P NMR spectrum two singlets at 6 18.8 and 21.8 were observed, the latter of which appeared with satellite signals (J = 2350 Hz) due to coupling with the 195Pt nucleus. In general, the spectra of 3 are very similar to those of 2a (Table ).
