Abstract

The synthesis of spirofused 2‐thioxopyridines 3 from benzoyl(thioacetanilides) 1 and cyclohexylidenemalononitrile (2) is described. Cyclopentylidene‐ and cycloheptylidenemalononitrile do not react with 1. Heating of 1 in the presence of piperidine yields thiazoles 4.
