✦ Synopsis
An alternating butadiene-propene copolymer was partially ct-brominated with N-bromosuccinimide; then reaction with 1,6-bis(bromomagnesium) hexane was carried out. The modified copolymer was degraded in a metathesis reaction with (E)-4-octene. The low molecular products were identified by means of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry• Crosslinking by direct bonding between the polymer chains, but not by hexylene groups, was found. In addition hexyl substituents were observed.
