Aeration of dilute aqueous solutions of disodium ethylenebisdithiocarbamate (nabam, I) results in the formation of a yellow, insoluble, fungicidal material '1. F rom this material a pale-yellow compound has been isolated, C4I-#$$S3, m. p. 125-6OC, for which the ethylenethiuram monosulphide structure (ETM, II) was made plausible 2). Despite severe criticism this structure was upheld, mainly on the basis of spectroscopical evidence 31.
