Gas

phase basicity (GB) and proton affinity (PA) determinations by the thermokinetic method have been reevaluated in the light of the new basicity scale. It is found that the thermokinetic method provides GB values with a precision better than AE3 kJ/mol. The following GB values are obtained: isobutene = 776.3; acetone = 782.1; ketene = 790.1; methylketene = 809.6; formaldimine = 929.7; vinylimine = 880.3; sulfine = 755.1 kJ/mol. Some discrepancies between the present results and the tabulated values are clarified.
