✦ Synopsis

Canada has announced two proposed income tax changes aimed at encouraging the construction of wind turbine projects. The announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister John Manley who said, "I am confident that Canadians will support our efforts to encourage rhe production of more renewable energy in Canada." The changes will supplement the government's decision in the last federal budget to provide C$260 million to support development of 1,000 MW of renewable electricity by 2016, up from the current level of 200 MW.
