After years of fighting to keep her village from being enslaved by Zarimora, the troll queen, Raven, a female ghost whisperer, is exhausted and greatly in need of personal renewal. Even so, Raven must first obtain megentum, a metal so rare as to be virtually nonexistent, yet essential for creating Baelfire, a magic sword. However, Raven's mentor, an ancient female ghost, wisely understands that these needs are intertwined and one cannot be attained without the other. And the ancient ghost knows one thing more, reaching the megentum will be almost impossible for it's buried deep beneath Gratuga, the troll queen's underground city. In desperation, Raven turns to the ghosts of the many human victims haunting Gratuga, and an alliance between the living and the dead is all that stands between humans and a ruthless troll queen's dreams of total conquest.
