Graphics workstations are introduced

CGX Corporation has introduced a new series of high performance graphics workstations with IBM 5080 compatibility. The two workstations, the 2023 and the 2033, are part of COX's System 2001, which is workstation network. The 2023 is a vector workstation and the 2033 is a colour raster workstation. They are both designed for use in IBM host-based CADCAM installations.

Both workstations feature local 3D graphics processors, interfaces to large screen projection systems. In addition, the 2033 workstation has a choice of simultaneous display of 256 colours out of a palette of 4096.

The applications supported by these workstations include mechanical design, numerical control, printed circuit board design, simulation and solids modelling, according to COX Corporation.
