β¦ Synopsis
recommended procedure, and the aqueous phase was analysed using the conventional thoron method. Similar experiments were carried out with IoO/, T.B.P.-kerosene, and with aluminium nitrate salting agent. Some typical results are shown in Table I.
The effect of foreign elements on the determination was found to be very similar in both butyl cellosolve and purely aqueous media 5. With the recommended procedure, 500 lug of Ce Q+, Fea+, Cra+, Moo+, Ala+, and UO$+ caused no interference. &irconium gave high results, but, as in the aqueous method, could be masked with 'Ynesotartaric acid. Titanium, sulphate, and fluoride decreased the colour.
