โฆ Synopsis
High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) Solid-phase extraction Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) Crude oil Summary 2 Experimental A rapid cleanup procedure has been tested and applied routinely 2.1 Materials in our laboratory to petroleum and sediment extracts for the recovery of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Solid-phase extraction (SPE) on Florisil cartridges yields a fast and good recoveryof neutral aromatic compounds which has been checked by normal-phase high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) analysis with UV-absorption detection.
The thirteen aromatic reference compounds used in this study were obtained from the Community Bureau of Reference (BCR, Commission of the European Community, Brussels, Belgium) naphthalene, fluorene, anthracene, phenanthrene, pyrene, fluoranthene, benz[a]anthracene, chrysene, benz[k]fluoranthene, benz[a]pyrene, perylene, benz(g,h,i]perylene, indeno-[1,2,3-cd]pyrene. Their purity was greater than 99.5%. A synthetic mixture of the 13 PAH (each at M) was prepared in n-hexane.
