Load parameters for a stationary Gaussian random load are taken as the location, scale and shape parameters of its power spectrum. The centre frequency of a power spectrum is proposed as a measure of fatigue life. A fatigue life function, formulated in terms of the load parameters, is evaluated from

โฆ Synopsis
This paper presents a method of analysis of an elastic airframe under environmental stochastic disturbances, e.g. atmospheric gusts and/or airfield roughness. It is based on airframe vibrational modes and includes rigid degrees of freedom. The non-stationary aerodynamics include the Wagner and Kussner effects. Gusts can be modeled either as a one-dimensional or a two-dimensional homogeneous isotropic random field with von Ka ยดrma ยดns spectral densities and a Gaussian probability distribution. The spectral responses, in turn, are used to determine samples of the corresponding random processes by a method of linear non-recursive filtration. They are meant for analyzing the fatigue life and assessing the passenger comfort of the examined airplane.

This paper treats the theoretical fatigue analysis of non-Gaussian random loadings. It first reviews a method recently developed by the Authors, which is capable to account for the effect of load bandwidth and non-normality. Fatigue lives from simulated Gaussian and non-Gaussian loadings, as well as
