✦ Synopsis

Raman spectra of a new solid phase of HIS, stable at high pressures and low temperatures, are reported. The number of observed peaks is indicative of a smaller unit cell than phase III that exists at zero pressure and low temperature. The dependence of both molecular and lattice mode frequencies on pressure is also investigated.

High-pressure Raman spectra of liquid and crystalline carbonyl sulfide (COS) have been measured up to I5 GPa at 300 K in a gasketed diamond anvil cell. The liquid-solid transition pressure is determined to be 2.70 GPa at 300 K. 4n intermolecular Raman made is found in the solid phase, and its freque

In the present paper we study the effect of high hydrostatic pressure (up to 16 GPa) on the Raman spectrum of Lu 3 Al 5 O 12 single crystals. Lu 3 Al 5 O 12 belongs to the crystal family of rare earth garnets (Re 3 Al 2 (AlO 4 ) 3 , Re: Gd, Tb, Dy, Er, . . .). These materials crystallize with the bo
