✦ Synopsis

A Raman study was carried out on (x = 0.3, 0.4) ternary glasses with xAg 2 O AE (1 Ô x)[yWO 3 AE (1 Ô y)TeO 2 ] respect to composition and temperature. The crystallization process and structural units making up the ternary glasses were analyzed in detail. addition was found to promote the formation of tetragonal pyramid Ag 2 O TeO 3 and units in the glasses at the expense of tetragonal bipyramid and units. The addition of WO 4 TeO 4 WO 6 Ag 2 O also lengthens the TeÈO bond, whereas increases the vibrational wavenumber of the units. The WO 3 TeO 3 crystallization of the glasses is a two-step ordering process of the units and complete ordering is hindered by TeO 4 the more rigid units. However, the onset of crystallization does not follow a simple pattern with the content of WO 4 The proportion of the units is always small at the onset of crystallization and increases close to the WO 3 . T e O 4 completion of crystallization, regardless of whether the crystal is formed from the melt by cooling or from the glass state by heating.

Several compositions in the (50x ) PbO-xPbF 2 -50B 2 O 3 (0 Ä x Ä 20) mol% vitreous system were systematically characterized at room temperature by infrared and Raman microscopic analysis. A general assignment of the vibrations observed for x = 0 mol% was proposed on the basis of borate units and co
