## Abstract Near infrared (NIR) transmission spectra recorded from poly(ethylene trerephthalate) (PET) melt contain a sufficient amount of information to estimate the number of carboxylic end groups and the relative viscosity. In‐line monitoring of these quality parameters is feasible.
