✦ Synopsis


Low-temperature, polarized, single-crystal Raman spectra of the a-alum were recorded to CsGa(SeO 4 ) 2 AE 12H 2 O 1000 cm-1. The lattice modes, the external modes of water and the internal modes of [ SeO 4 ] 2-, [ Ga(H 2 O) 6 ] 3' and were assigned. The unpolarized Raman spectrum of was also recorded. [ Cs(H 2 O) 6 ] ' CsIn(SeO 4 ) 2 AE 12H 2 O The alums of Group 13 elements are optically transparent and suitable hosts for a wide range of trivalent hexaaqua cations.
