Abs~ct--The Raman spectra for (SiFa)x and GeFz are reported. In the spectrum of (SiFa), a band has been observed at 411 cm-1 and is most probably associated with Si----Si bonding in the compound; this is the first direct evidence for such a bond. The high degree of similarity between the spectra of (SiF2)x and (CF2)= suggests that (SiF2)z is a zig-rag helical chain polymer similar to (CF2)=.
