Using the 4880 A line of an argon ion laser, Raman spectra of supersaturated solution droplets were obtained for ammonium bisulfate and ammonium sulfate in the region between 650 and 1300 cm-' with a resolution of 4 cm-' . For the bisulfate droplets, the Raman spectra show distinctive features that are not in the spectra of either the bulk crystalline or the solution samples. The present investigation indicates that under supersaturation conditions ion-solvent interactions may result in the formation of semi-ordered bisulfate ion lattice with interspersed water molecules.
