Laser-excited Raman'spectra of polycrystslline samples of ehIorine, bromine and Mine have been observed at low temperatures. Lattice and molecular modes in Cl2 sad Br2 are assigned according to group theory, and isotope effects are distinguished. Strong crystal fieid perturb&ions ape observed for the 12 stretching made. but the Lattice spectrum is too weak fox definite assignment.
