Raman scattering from graphite intercalated with FeCl3−y

✦ Synopsis

We measured the Raman bands of the graphitic E2g mode in the vicinity of 1600 cm-: for the pure stage 1 and the mixed stage 1 and 2 graphite--FeCl3_y (0 -< y < 1) compounds and for those after reheating. Then we found the change of the stage 1 and 2 fractions and, occasio~nally, the appearance of the stage 3 fraction after reheating. The increase of y, i.e. the intercalated FeCI2 fraction by reheating, was confirmed by subsidiary measurements of the M6ssbaner effect. We can explain the stage change in the reheating process in terms of the modified stage model.
