Inelastic scattering of light has been used to study the magnetic excitations in antiferromagnetic FeF, crystals disordered in two ways. In the first the magnetic dilute system Fel-,Zn,Fz is investigated as a function of the concentration x and temperature T, with x varying from zero nearly up to the percolation limit x, = 0.76. The other is the mixed system Fel-,Mn,F, in the limit of small Mn impurity concentrations. In this case an anomalously large scattering by the impurity associated local modes is observed. The behaviour of the excitations in both magnetic systems is explained satisfactorily by simple theoretical models. 14 'i7
