The laser Raman spectra of the solid hematoporphyrin free-base HzHem, the diacid, [H4HemI2+ and the platinum complexes, [H4HemI2+ [PtCl4l2-, the Sitting-Atop complex (SAT), cis-Pt(H2Hem) Clz and the platino-hematoporphyrin PtHem have been studied in the range 500 to 1800 cm-l. The spectra of the pla

and MPt,O, (M = Mn, Co, Cd). An enumeration of the allowed Raman modes is made for all of these oxides except Pt,O, , for which the structure is unknown. Polarization measurements allow symmetry species assignments to be made for the lines from a-PtO, and PtCoO, , and a likely assignment of the lines from /l-PtO, is made by analogy with rutile-structured materials with the rutile structure.
