Infrared and polarized Raman spectra of (NH4)JH(S04)1 have been recorded and analysed. Multiple bands are observed for the vibrational modes of SO:-and NH: groups. HSO; and SO:-ions are found to coexist with vibrational interaction between them. NH: ion is not rotating freely in the lattice.

## Abstract Raman and infrared spectra of NH~4~H~2~(IO~3~)~3~ and KH~2~(IO~3~)~3~ were recorded and analysed. The observed splittings of the stretching modes of IO~3~^โˆ’^ are due to the distortion of the IO~6~ octahedra. In NH~4~H~2~(IO~3~)~3~, the ammonium ion can rotate freely and the NH~4~^+^ gro
