โœฆ Synopsis

Different models of rails for the high frequency range are compared. In addition to known models, a new model based entirely upon the finite element method is presented. The models are used to calculate the dispersion relations for wave propagation in free rails up to (15 \mathrm{kHz}). The results for different models are compared. The deviations are explained and the validity ranges for the different models are given.

The extended Ritz technique is used to study high frequency vibrations and waves in infinite homogeneous and laminated orthotropic plates. This technique utilizes exact expressions for the wave form along the extent of the plate, but models the plate's behavior through the thickness with a large num

Despite much e!ort in the past few decades, the numerical prediction of high-frequency vibrations remains a challenging task to the engineering and scienti"c communities due to the numerical instability of existing computational methods. However, such prediction is of crucial importance to certain p
