✦ Synopsis
Engineering approaches to the manufacture of transdermal systems are well presented in the next three chapters, although this section is perhaps somewhat too brief. The reviewer imagines that a more detailed description would have been useful towards enlightening the industrial pharmacist. The final section of the book then deals with regulatory requirements in the US, UK and Japan, W. Germany being conspicuous by its absence.
In general this is a good all-round text, necessarily elementary when covering theory, yet comprehensively put together. But then again, those looking for theory should be reading Barry's "Transdermal Formulations'' or Crank's "Mathematics of Diffusion". The engineering section is particularly useful in providing an insight into the industrial manufacture of transdermal systems. This book should be in every library when research into skin permeation is being followed.
