Abstract

To clear up the reactivity of solids with isotope‐exchange experiments in solid‐solution systems, four well defined Co compounds with different structures were chosen:
A and B have perfectly ordered lattices. C and D are substances with partly defect structures; they have a double‐layer structure, where ordered main layers of Co(OH)~2~ alternate with intermediate partly disordered layers of basic salt.

## Abstract 1. In most crystals, only at higher temperature the ionic mobility attains sufficiently large value to permit the ions to migrate within the crystal. However, substances which show structurally conditioned defects, such as lattice regions with different degrees of order, have also at or
