✦ Synopsis

The energy levels and lifetimes of 4sns 3 S 1 (n ¼ 5-25), 4snd 3 D 1 (n ¼ 4-25) and 4snp 1 P 1 (n ¼ 5-15) of Zn I have been evaluated using the multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT). The calculated lifetimes of 4sns 3 S 1 and 4snd 3 D 1 characterized by the effective quantum n are given by the formula t n ¼ 0:9533n 2:6573 ns and t n ¼ 0:2162n 3:128 ns, respectively.
