✦ Synopsis
Transition probabilities of electric dipole-forbidden transitions 2P,,2+2P,,, for Kr+ and Xe+ have heen determined using the monitor ion technique in a triple ICR spectrometer with Fourier transform detection. The experimentally determined lifetimes (48.7& 5 ms) for Xe+ and (340?$ ms) for Kr* are in very good agreement with theoretical values.
