โœฆ Synopsis

After a rather long pause, in the last years several new results have appeared (and continue to appear) in the evaluation of higher order radiative corrections to quantum electrodynamics. They found their natural justification in the recent progress in high precision, low energy QED experiments (Josephson-effect measurement of the fine structure constant value and Lamb shift values, gyromagnetic ratios of electron and muon), and became possible on account of the increasing use of large digital computers, which seem to be a common feature of all the recent work in the field. They are reviewed in this paper, with special regard to the numerical or symbolic characteristics of the computing techniques used.

The finite corrections to the graviton-electron and graviton-photon vertices due to virtual quantum electrodynamical processes are calculated at the one-loop level. For an electron in a gravitational field, they lead to a very small deviation from Newton's law. Also, the deviations from the General

Quantum field theory is frequently approached from the perspective of particle physics. This book adopts a more general point of view and includes applications of condensed matter physics. Written by a highly respected writer and researcher, it first develops traditional concepts, including Feynman
