✦ Synopsis

After a short survey of the present state of the field of atomic and atomic collision physics the main types of radiation produced in fast ion-atom collisions and the associated instrumentation are described. Then some of the models for collision mechanism, which interpret the observed phenomena, are presented.

Finally, examples are given of applications of the high-energy ion-atom collisions.
