Abstract

An analysis of the radiation Q of electrically large loop antennas is presented and its characteristics are discussed. The methodology involves the spherical mode expansion for the fields outside the loop. It is found that higher‐order modes need to be considered for a realistic estimate of the radiation Q of large loops. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
