✦ Synopsis


Based on the cylindrical ¨ector wa¨e functions, the propagation of a wa¨e in a circular wa¨eguide filled with a uniaxial chiral medium is rigorously formulated. By ignoring the diffraction effects of the edge and using the Stratton᎐Chu formula, radiation from an open-end guide is numerically computed for the lowest order n s 1 mode. It is found that the uniaxial chirality of the filling material can sharpen the half-power beamwidths of this type of radiator.
