✦ Synopsis
The radiation from a cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) excited at the and experimentally ini, estigated. Assuming magnetic-wall boundaly conditions, equations for the electric field components in the far-field region are deriL,ed for the first time. The dependence of the radiation pattern and directivity on the dimensions of the cylinder are discussed. The gain of the DRA operating at the HE,,, mode is 30% greater than that of an ideal monopole, and the bandwidth is about four times greater than the bandwidth of a patch antenna. 0 1996
