✦ Synopsis
The radar cross section per unit length is computed in the case of plane-wa¨e scattering by a lossy multilayer elliptic cylinder. The solution is obtained by a Taylor series approximation of the Mathieu functions of complex argument, which are the eigenfunctions of the lossy elliptic cylinder. A recursi¨e procedure is applied to se¨eral test cases in which the multilayer elliptic cylinders are made of significantly lossy materials.
