In the world of thoroughbred racing, brilliant business woman Kate Lawrence is in the market to buy the Wagoner horse farm to add to her numerous other stables. Lena Corkhill is a noted horse trainer and a member of the Wagoner staff. She must make the decision to either accept the offer of becoming Kate’s trainer and go to the Merridoc Estate in Florida or find other employment in Lexington, Kentucky.

The two women are attracted to each other yet each afraid to make the first move. When a person from Lena's past appears, it threatens to wreak havoc on the budding relationship. As the wind gently swirls around them, it could, to a poet with imagination, sound like the a line in a poem; The quest for love starts as a slow trot gently beating in two hearts before it gallops headlong into a full blown race.
