The mtramolecular exciplex 1(1-pyrenyl), 3N(3-methyhndole)propane 1s quenched by m-&cyanobenzene. The pyrene and Ibe exaplex fluorescence 1s quenched and Lieu respective rate cons~anls equal 1 5 x IO" C mol-' s-' and 1.1 x 10" ( mol-' 5-l. The quenchmg of Ihe exnplcx results m the emisstion of a new species. whtch does not anse from exciplex substitution bur can be ascribed 10 a triple exciplex (mDCB-Py-C,H,-In* )
