Coupling of an unpaired d electron to the porphyrin phosphorescent triplet gives rise to a YripdoubIet" and a quartet state. Luminescence from Cu porphin and Cu octdkylporphin is fargel-tripdoublet at liquid nitrogen temperature and quartet at liquid hydrogen tempcrnture. while Cu tetrnphenylprphin is quartet at both temperatures.
