โฆ Synopsis
Quantum phases at the nanoscale
Advances in fundamental nanoscale sciences foster the creation of novel technologies in electronics, optoelectronics, communication and information processing and have the potential to open new research directions in all branches of contemporary condensed-matter physics and materials science. This Special Issue offers overviews on significant recent developments. The papers consider new quantum phenomena that emerge from the drastic reduction of the physical dimensions in nanoscale structures. This issue contains invited contributions by scientists active in these fields. Several contributions originate from presentations at the Euroconference "Quantum phases at the nanoscale" held in Erice (Italy) during 15-
