✦ Synopsis

THEORETICAL advances of various aspects of quantum electronics were dealt with rather than any practical applications. Significant development has taken place in single-mode operation of various lasers ranging from gas (CO2) lasers through liquid lasers to glass lasers. The theory of single-mode operation is not as yet well understood in the last two cases, but much headway has been made in the case of gas lasers.
