โœฆ Synopsis

We consider a mesoscopic Josephson junction in a circular superconducting ring which encloses a magnetostatic flux. It is shown that the state of the junction can evolve in a quantum superposition of two coherent states. It is also shown that the destructive interference between these two states suppresses the supercurrent, and the dynamic behavior of the supercurrent shows collapse and revival phenomena.

Recent experimental demonstrations of quantum coherence of the charge and flux states of Josephson junctions show that the quantum Josephson dynamics can be used to develop scalable quantum logic circuits. In this work, I review the basic concepts of Josephson tunneling and Josephson-junction qubits

Magneto-fluctuations of the normal resistance R N have been reproducibly observed in YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7ร€d (HTS) biepitaxial grain boundary junctions at low temperatures. We attribute them to mesoscopic transport in narrow channels across the grain boundary line. The Thouless energy appears to be the rel
