✦ Synopsis

Spectroscopy -the often academic science of determining the chemical composition of a material by analysing its spectral properties

-is gearing up to become the next application area to be invaded by the commercial revolution in compound semiconductors. This is thanks to the capability of the Quantum Cascade Laser for its emission wavelength to be tuned by changing the wavefunction in a quantum well, without the need to change the bandgap and therefore the material composition.
