β¦ Synopsis
We present a qualitative study of the subdiffractive light beam propagation in photonic crystals, based on the theoretical analysis of full Maxwell equation system beyond the slowly varying envelope and paraxial approximations. We calculate the zero diffraction curve in the parameter space, we calculate the weak asymptotical broadening (spreading in transverse direction), and we also analyze the dependence of subdiffractive propagation on the polarization orientation (both for TM and TE polarization).

## Abstract Metallic waveguides can be constructed with sidewalls consisting of metallic rods instead of sheets. The attenuation constants and bandwidths of such waveguides are calculated for a fixed cutoff frequency while the radii of the metallic rods are varied. The propagation losses are found
By using a tightly focused laser beam, we have studied light propagation in two-dimensional photonic crystals consisting of closed-packed hexagonal arrays of polystyrene particles with diameter of 1 βΌ 5 Β΅m. The light propagation is found to depend strongly on the focal point positioning, the inciden
## Abstract It is possible by the application of voltage to control the local level in a oneβdimensional photonic crystal with a liquid crystal defect layer. In the present paper, a nematic liquid crystal is used and highβspeed switching is attempted on the basis of the shift of the localized state
