✦ Synopsis
The magnetic susceptibihty and EPR spectra of intermediate-spm iron(IlI) porphyrm. FeOEP(THF),CIO,
(1). were measured over a wide range of temperature.
The EPR spectrum of 1 in dichloromethane at 4.2 K gives effective g-values. g: = 4.53 and g; = 2.00. Below 150 K, the effective magnetic moment of 1 was determined to be 4.41 pa. The magnetic behavior in the low-temperature region is well analyzed by a pure S = 3/2 spin Hamiltonian with gI = 2.39. g,, = 2.00. and D = 16 K rather than a quantum-mechanically admixed spin state between S = 5/2 and S = 3/2.
