β¦ Synopsis
Quadrupole nutation 17Al NMR monitors the changes in the chemical environment of aluminium during dealumination and subsequent realumination of zeolite Y. Two-dimensional nutation spectra unambiguously demonstrate that extra-framework aluminium enters four-coordinated (tetrahedral) framework sites during treatment with aqueous solutions of strong bases.

The hypothesis that the resolution of \*%i magic-angle-spinning NMR spectra of zeolite ZSM-S/silicalite is governed by tetrahedral Al content is questioned by showing that the introduction of substantial amounts of framework Al into silicalite does not impair spectral resolution. Possible alternativ
