Abstract
In this article, antennas over metamaterials substrates are investigated with the radiating Q factor determined by using a timeβdomain method. The main objective is to illustrate the electromagnetic behavior of this kind of complex structure by calculating its energy budget (stored and radiated energies). An example of a patch antenna using such materials is analyzed and experimental results are presented. Β© 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract We present characteristics of microstrip patch antennas on metamaterial substrates loaded with complementary splitβring resonators (CSRRs). The proposed antenna utilizes CSRRs in the ground plane altering the effective medium parameters of the substrate. To characterize the performance
An approach is developed to analyze microstrip antennas on finite chiral substrates using the finite-element method (FEM). The perfectly matched layers (PMLs) in the chiral media is employed in this work. First, the characteristics of microstrip antennas on infinite conventional, ferrite, and chiral
The in¨estigation of the impedance characteristics of patch antennas on finite-size dielectric substrates is conducted experimentally. A probe-fed rectangular patch antenna with double L-shaped slots is selected for the tests. Both measured VSWR and input impedance are employed to e¨aluate the effec
