The results of a Fourier transform IR study of the degradation of an acrylonitrile copolymer containing approx. 4 wt% of methacrylic acid, at 130Β°C under a reduced pressure of 5 x lo-\* Torr, are presented. A mechanism is proposed for the degradation that is consistent with the IR spectral evidence.
