Abstract

By means of the negative solvatochromic betaine dyes 1a, b, the UV/Vis‐spectroscopically derived empirical solvent polarity parameter E~T~(30) for supercritical carbon dioxide (sc‐CO~2~) was determined in the temperature and pressure ranges 40–80°C and 150–550 bar, respectively.
